Grease is the main lubricant in the engines, suspension units and transmission systems of most cars and vans. Car Parts 4 Less stocks cheap grease and fluids for any vehicle - simply search by make and model here.
The lifespan of a car, van or truck would be significantly reduced if it wasn't for the presence of grease. This essential lubricant allows the smooth running of most moving parts in a vehicle, particularly if they are subjected to friction with other parts, such as in the gearbox. The metal composition of most components in a vehicle makes them susceptible to rust and decay. Applying grease is the easiest and cheapest way to delay that natural process. It is not just corrosion that puts the parts at risk, of course, since the friction that takes place in the brake system, for example, causes a build-up of heat every time it is engaged. Overheating can cause failure for parts like the brake pads, so grease must be applied to prevent this. When grease wears thin, the moving parts are subjected to greater friction and greater heat, so drivers are advised to keep the levels of grease in their vehicles topped up as much as possible.
