Ignition Modules

Ignition Modules

An ignition module is a computer that controls the voltage your spark plugs receive. Want to stop overheating or fix sudden engine failure? Buy a low-cost ignition module from CarParts4Less.co.uk.

Ignition modules are the brains of ignition systems in modern cars. When you turn the ignition key, current flows from the battery to the coil. Meanwhile, the module monitors voltages in the armature via a pickup coil. Every time a ‘tooth’ on a rotor in the armature moves past the pickup coil, the module cuts the flow of current in the primary winding. A timing circuit in the module restarts the current flow every time the tooth moves away from the pickup coil. As this happens, a magnetic field engulfs the secondary winding. This increases the voltage by up to 50,000 volts and fires up your engine. A faulty ignition module may be due to poor electrical connections, or overheating.
