Brake Pipe Unions

Brake Pipe Unions

Brake pipe unions connect the pipes and hoses in your car’s hydraulic braking system. To find the right ones for your vehicle at a great price, please enter your registration number in the parts-finder tool above.

Brake hoses are made of flexible rubber. They transfer brake fluid to the calipers and provide enough force to allow calipers to clamp down on the pads and discs. This provides the friction your wheels need to stop when you push down on your brake pedal. The brake pipes are made of metal (usually steel) and sit in the wheel arches. The pipes transfer brake fluid from the master cylinder to the hoses. Metal brake pipe unions create watertight links between the pipes and hoses. This allows the brake lines to deliver enough fluid to stop your car when you press the pedal. The most obvious sign of worn or loose brake unions is a leak, but if your brake pedal becomes spongy or too hard to press down, then faulty brake unions could be the cause.
