Fuel Tank Sender Units

Fuel Tank Sender Units

A fuel tank sender unit informs the engine control unit (ECU) of the amount of petrol or diesel that is left in a fuel tank. Cheap replacement sender units can be found here by searching with a vehicle registration number.

A fuel tank is where the petrol or diesel is stored in a car or van. It is connected to the engine via a fuel pump, a fuel injector and a series of pipes, and while these parts are functioning in tandem, a sender unit is constantly monitoring the level of fuel that is left for the driver. It is a simple system made of a metal rod and a float that sends readings to the ECU and the dashboard to keep drivers aware of their levels of fuel consumption. When a sender unit malfunctions, it can send false and, therefore, misleading information to the driver, which makes it difficult to know when to top up on fuel. New and fully functional sender units are prerequisites of the economical running of a vehicle, so be sure that you are getting the most out of your fuel system.
