Clutch Hydraulics

The hydraulic clutch is a modern alternative to older systems with mechanical clutch cables. Much like any type of clutch, its job is to disconnect the engine from the gearbox and allow smooth gear changes. This system houses a reservoir of hydraulic fluid. When you press down on the clutch pedal, this releases the fluid at high pressure and then disengages the clutch disc to stop the driveshaft from turning. As long as you replace the hydraulic fluid once a year, this clutch type is more efficient than its older mechanical sibling.
