Spark plugs deliver the current that ignites the fuel-air mixture and brings your car to life. Car Parts 4 Less stocks spark plugs for engines of all shapes, sizes and performance levels.
Spark plugs fit into each cylinder head of your engine. They feature insulated centre electrodes that connect to the ignition coil or distributor via an ignition, or 'high tension', cable. As electricity transmits to the spark plug, a gap between the firing end of the plug and the cylinder causes the voltage to jump between the two points. This creates the spark that starts the combustion process. To fire properly, spark plugs usually require a voltage of at least 20,000 volts. The spark creates a lot of heat. In response, the spark plug must work as kind of heat exchanger. It reduces the temperature in the combustion chamber by transferring heat to the engine coolant. Different engines require varying types and numbers of spark plugs. To ensure that your car runs as it should, you need to buy the right plugs in the correct quantity. Use the parts-finder tool to find the perfect spark plugs for your needs.
