The suspension arm provides a link between the suspension and the frame of your car. The arm attaches at either side with the aid of bushings. The suspension joint connects the outer end of the arm to the steering knuckle. As you drive, the suspension swings up and down to absorb bumps in the road. The suspension joint allows the suspension arm to pivot against the steering knuckle and absorb vibrations as the wheels move. Most cars have two control arms, but some have three or four.
